• NEWS ... On July 22nd at 6 pm at Cobham the England under 19 women’s field lacrosse team will face a USA touring side. All welcome!

With the development of a new clubhouse at The Old Surbitonians Memorial Ground and the formation of the Cobham Sports Association Ltd, we wanted to extend the field sports facility to include more sport for ladies, so we have set up a Lacrosse club.

The game is played by many local schools but we've been going into new schools that don’t play to generate more interest.  Supported by Elmbridge Council, we have had taster days at Rydens, Hinchley Wood, Esher High and St Andrew's Primary.  Other sessions are planned so if you are a teacher and would like to get your girls playing lacrosse please do get in touch.

Paul Wycherley from Elmbridge council who has been one of the driving forces behind the club setting up said:

“We are happy to support Cobham Sports' Lacrosse as it’s a really friendly club and all the girls seem to be getting fit, having fun and meeting new friends.  They are not elitist and the most un-sporty girls are made welcome and encouraged to play this great game.

“We want more state schools playing; it’s great for fitness, competition and confidence and is played on grass – so no expensive Astroturf pitch.”

The sport’s introduction has proved a great success, with the club even hosting an international match last year and the women’s team recently receiving its sparkly new kit all helped by a Big Lottery grant..

Girls aged 10 to 14 are welcome to join the club’s lacrosse team, with one-and-a-half hour ‘roll-up’ sessions, £2.50, on Saturdays at 2pm.

Easter courses – The club will be running lacrosse courses this Easter in conjunction Elite Sports Camps Ltd - All coaches are either present or past Senior England players, coaches from the USA or have specialist coaching experience.  Timing 10.00 – 4.00, £25 per day.

Cobham Sports Lacrosse are proud to be working with Elite Sports Camps Ltd -  www.sports-camps.co.uk are responsible for many of the top level Lacrosse courses run in the south of England.

We will also be running summer courses AND weekly lax and fitness session over the summer.
