Cobham Sports hosts England win over Australia

On Thursday 11 June 2009 the England lacrosse team played Australia at Cobham Rugby Club in the only world cup warm-up match to be held in the UK. 

To the delight of the excited crowd, the game was fast paced and action-packed with a final score of 8-6 to England.

The international game was sponsored by several local businesses including Menzies LLP which manned the sponsors’ enclosure.

At this sell-out event attended by 1,200 spectators, Menzies, (which also sponsors Cobham Rugby Club’s Senior Section) entertained guests in a small bar area where they could relax with a drink while they watched the game from the goal line.

Paul Hickson, a partner at Menzies said: ‘It was terrific to see so many people turn up to watch this fantastic game. For many spectators this is their local sports club, and to have a game played by two top-tier international lacrosse teams, just prior to the world cup, is not only good for them but also for our local community.’
